What our organization is about
Links
The Wentzville Firefighters Community Outreach program was established in 2008 with support from the Wentzville Fire Protection District by Wentzville Firefighters who wanted to do more for our community. As firefighters, we often see the most tragic events and deal with people when they are at their lowest low. As a result of what we are faced with we set out to form an organization that could provide a positive spin and give hope to those when they are faced with such an event.
We believe that we can do more for our community than just performing our duties as firefighters and our members have vowed to work on and off-duty to help those that may need our help but may not know where to turn.
Since the inception of the Wentzville Firefighters Community Outreach Program we have helped communities that were affected by natural disasters, citizens that have been plagued with cancer and helped parents to keep track of their children through the Mason's child ID program.
We are here to help and if you know someone in need or may need assistance at an event that helps our community please feel free to contact us and we will see what assistance we can offer.

Request Our Truck
The Wentzville Fire Protection District recently donated to the Community Outreach Program a de-commisioned1991 Seagrave Pumper. After receiving the pumper, the Community Outreach had the truck painted pink and has made the truck available for display at local fundraising activities.
The purpose of the pink truck was an idea that was first brought to us by Dave Graybill. Dave is a firefighter from Arizona who traveled across the country in a pink fire truck raising awareness for women and breast cancer. Wentzville was a stopping point for Dave and together we had our first event at Ann's Bra Shop. The next year Dave continued his efforts by expanding his fleet, which raised even more awareness and made yet another stop in our city. This time our organization decided that we could also make an impact and hosted a Pink Heals Tour stop, comprised of a run/walk along with a family fun event that involved over 2000 participants. With the money raised we assisted 11 women in our community affected by cancer.
With the blessing of Dave and the Wentzville Fire District the pink truck is road ready for events. If you would like to request the pink truck for an event, please fill out the form below. Each request will be considered on a case by case basis and the decision will be made based on various factors.

Owl recovering after collision with Wentzville firetruck

World Bird Sanctuary
The hospital that takes care of wild animals
A barred owl that flew directly into the path of a Wentzville firetruck heading to a fire last week is recovering at the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park.
The owl flew into the windshield of a Wentzville Fire Protection District truck heading to last Thursday mornings fire at 66 Abby Kate Lane near Wentzville, said Battalion Chief Michael Scott.
Firefighters were startled when the owl struck the windshield along Highway W, a couple miles from the fire, Scott said. They realized a bird had hit the truck but kept heading to the 3:30 a.m. fire that destroyed the home.
When firefighters arrived at the blaze, they noticed the owl clinging to the roof of the truck, Scott said. It had been injured but was still alive. Firefighters took the owl to the sanctuary, where it had surgery to repair a damaged wing.
Walter Crawford, director and founder of the sanctuary, said the owl is recovering and should be able to return to its habitat in four to six weeks.
Crawford said bird-vehicle collisions are a common cause of bird injuries.
